His grandfather Don Heil was part of the original group that supported biodiesel. He discusses the start of the industry and how it continues to grow today with the support of checkoffs in other soybean-growing states, as well as the United Soybean Board and American Soybean Association.

In this edition, Greg Greving, a farmer from Nebraska, discusses how biodiesel is made from by-products and uses readily available and diverse resources. The biodiesel industry doesn’t require new land and hasn’t caused any changes to available land or agricultural production. Instead, the industry uses excess soybean oil without taking away from available food, fuel, or land sources.
